Mountain Gorillas

There roughly about 700 mountain gorillas on earth, and nearly half of them live in Africa! They are basically almost extinct! The male gorillas get silver hair on their back. The little gorillas are the ones who just cant stop playing or jumping. They are the most active and they tend to like to wrestle. That's really good if they are male because they get stronger and know how to fight later when there is a situation. The bad thing is that the most serious habitat threat is habitat loss. That's why they are close to extinction. Most of their land and rich soil is used by people for farming. The gorilla is shy and retiring rather than ferocious and treacherous. It usually seeks no trouble unless it is harassed but will valiantly defend its family group if threatened. Animals their size need A LOT of food. They eat a lot of plants and fruits but it is getting harder and harder for them to survive. The female are also slow at reproduction. They reproduce when they are about 10, then they start reproducing about every 3 or 4 years. The male starts mating at about age 12 to 15. This animal is a unique one and in serious trouble. If we don't stop soon, another species is going extinct!
