Dashain, Nepal festival

In Nepal they celebrate a festival called Dashain, which is one of the biggest festivals of the year. The Dashain festival celebrates good over evil, and is symbolized by the goddess Durga because of her slaying of the demon Mahisasur. The festival lasts 15 days in the month Kartik which for us would be late September early October. The goddess Durga is also worshiped for her offerings, innumerable pujas, and much more. The tenth day is when the demon was slayed and the last five days they celebrated their victory. Every year houses in Nepal are prepared for the mother goddess, Durga, to bless and visit the house. Can you think of one holiday that almost everyone celebrates? I can think of New Years, just not on the same day and not always celebrated in the same way. Any others?
