Starvation in the Middle East

Have you ever heard of the city Madaya? This is a city in Syria.  For the past 6 months, it has been cut off from the rest of the world because of the civil war taking place in Syria. There are about 40,000 residents in Madaya. More are flooding in as their cities are being attacked. In October, the UN gave them one month's worth of food for 20,000 people. In the last 2 months, people have began to starve to death. Last Tuesday, 47 trucks with food- rice, vegetable oil, salt, sugar and canned foods were allowed in to Madaya. In addition, doctors and nutritionists were allowed into the city to treat the 400 people that are near death. In the end, I think it is sad that innocent people are dying from starvation. Do you think they have a chance to stay alive?

  1. Good choice for this piece. This is something that we all should be aware of.

  2. I totally believe you. I think that they will have a chance to stay alive, because they are delivered food and now doctors and nurses. I also think that it would be so sad, because those little kids are just so innocent. I now really want to help them by sending food and more resources for them.
