The Middle East: Here We Go Again




     

          Almost 40 years ago, a civil war imploded in Lebanon, known as the "The Paris of the Middle East". Secondly, in Afghanistan the Mujaheddin, a group of guerrilla fighters that fought against the Soviets, went rogue and started to terrorize the west. Thirdly, an Intifada (cultural revolution) started in 1987 and didn't end until 1990. Oh, and during all this, a man named Saddam Hussein rose to power in Iraq and also terrorized the western world. Then in 97', another Intifada sprang up between the Israelis and Palestinians. Many people were killed. Finally,the Intifada faded in 2000 and people asked, has the Middle East stopped the bloodshed? People got their answer mere months later, on September 11th, or 911. Then the war in Afghanistan started up days after, and didn't end until a few years ago. Now this B.S.  Although the Iraq army's victory at Ramadi a few weeks ago was crucial against ISIS, It's going to be a long haul before we can destroy ISIS. Want to learn more? click here!

  1. I think that this is a very interesting story. Also, I don't think Isis is ever going away, but we can stop them for the time being. I think that this is very sad that this region is always in constant war. Finally, I think that the European Union and the U.S. need to both stop Isis together.
