What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about the Middle East? War? Isis? Violence? What about poverty? Lack of food and water? Poor education? The lack of medical attention these people need? Do you ever stop to think about how much other people suffer while we live amazing lives? For example, while you’re hanging out with your friends, people are getting treated for war injuries. Yesterday I had the opportunity to see what it’s like to live like these people. In addition, I was able to walk through the life of a mother of a two year old girl named Aviv. Her name is Adi Freibach and they live in Nahal Oz, a kibbutz in Israel. Her daughter attends one of the two fortified kindergartens. Aviv and her mother pass by two bomb shelters on their way home. Did you know that for the past decade people in Israel have been dealing with rocket firings? That is about ⅛ of their life. How do you think you would deal with living in Israel?

  1. I like how you used your transitions and how you included a lot of information.Yes, I did know that Israelis have been dealing with things like bomb threats. If I were in living in Israel I would probably try to leave or move as far away from places like the Gaza strip as possible. In fact in the same village as Aviv a 4 year old a couple years ago was killed by shrapnel.

  2. Well, it matters where you live in Israel. Near the middle parts of Israel, everything is pretty calm. Also, think of it from an Israeli's point of view. They only think of most of the problems as regular life and just keep doing what they were doing before. If you lived in a warzone though, you might be a little scared. Trust me on this, most of Israel is very happy, actually one of the happiest countries in the world.
