Syrian Refugees

Many Syrian refugees have been trying to settle in Europe.  One country that has been allowing the refugees in is Sweden. Sweden takes in one of  the largest amounts of refugees in western side of the world, but borders of Sweden have been closed. The reason for this is that there has been so many refugees that have been arriving to Sweden, that the resources have been strained.  Another country that is a large contributor to allowing refugees in is Turkey. Recently Turkey has also had to close of the borders due to the amount of refugees.
Because the borders of two countries that allow refugees have been closed of, Syrian refugees have started to protest. One main debate that is used is that the borders have been closed of for children, the elderly, pregnant women, and the ill. Also silent protest have been taken. For example a group of refugees have tapped their mouths shut, and some protesters have even sewn their mouths shut.

If you controlled whether a country (countries) stopped allowing Syrian refugees to settle there, given the circumstances, what you do? Why?

  1. Before the Syrian refugees came, Europe was investing on security stuff, so they probably weren't very ready for the refugees. However, I still think they can do it, and can take in more refugees, not all in the same place, however. It's sad to think about the children that have gone through all of this. Also, I wonder how they felt to travel all the way there and find nothing. Do you know if there is a reason for some protests to be silent?

  2. If I could control whether a country stopped allowing Syrian Refugees to settle in, I'd gladly let them in my country. I had a blog post about the same topic. These are innocent people who didn't have the choice to leave their country. Unfortunately, it's just that the conditions in Syria, the government and all that is really unstable. I appreciate how Sweden and Turkey are letting in Syrian refugees. Also, I would completely understand why some of the refugees are protesting. If you ask me, pregnant woman, children, ill people, and the elderly deserve to be allowed in a country for sure. Do you agree with my opinion or do you have another thought, Alajandra?
