Rhinos

There are only 5,055 estimated black rhinos left in the world, and someone just bought a permit to kill one. The money that was payed for it is going to go towards saving the rhinos. In addition to the money from that, there was $100,000 raised for the rhinos. This totals in $450,000. (If you don’t want to do the math, that means that the hunting permit was $350,000)  A threatening email was sent, saying “For every rhino you kill, we will kill a club member.” This was the first hunting permit like this to be sold outside of Namibia. Four more permits like this will be sold this year, and all the profits go to the Conservation Trust Fund for Namibia’s Black Rhino. What do you think of the rhinos?

  1. I think these rhino's are very interesting! I think they are very cute and why would people pay to kill some of this endangered species?! Why would Corey willingly pay 350,000$ to kill one rhino?! I wish that Texas wouldn't have held this even though it's for Conservation Efforts. Was it really all that worth it to kill a Rhino in exchange for money? And it also makes no sense that it's a fund to help save Rhinos but they have people fund it by wanting them to kill a Rhino?! I hope this incident does not happen again. If you could help save the Rhinos how would you?

  2. I think that Rhinos are very dangerous, but they are also very cute. I don't understand why someone would pay 350,000 dollars only to kill one Rhino. Corey is a very selfish man. I did some research and the Black Rhinos only have a lifespan of 35-50 years, so they are pretty much killing them when they are really young. I would like to see less people killing animals for no reason. What do you think would happen if people didn't have permits.
