Recently, ISIS has been losing dominance in the middle east. They have had to resort to increasingly authoritarian measures as their grasp on influence fades. The myth of an invinsible ISIS army has been shattered with the retaking of Ramadi by Kurdish forces. They have even been burning their own fighters alive for not fighting to the death… so why are we afraid of ISIS so primally? Why the unflinching focus on ISIS by Republican candidates, the talk of shutting out all the people from the geographic region of the Islamic State? I believe, perhaps somewhat cynically, that Republicans are using ISIS as a tool to rile up Republican voters so that more Republicans will get elected, to put more pressure on Democrats about ISIS to make seem that Republicans are the only alternative. This will continue, at least according to the Republican plan, until Republicans dominate the halls of D.C. Then, they can use their majority to push through Republican policies, such as a revocation of gay rights, to then dominate America’s moral landscape. The end goal of all of this? To consolidate power in right-wing hands, of course. But hey, Maybe I’m just blowing the signs out of proportion. Or maybe their plan will lose steam. To wrap things up, why do YOU think people are still afraid of ISIS?
Logan, I firmly believe that you have a strong grasp of the current political circus.
