Blog Episode IV: A New...Hope?

As you know we are in the midst of our Middle East & Central Asia unit. We have read about the geography of the two regions and have touched on some of the culture there as well. And earlier today we "walked" through the Gaza Strip to see what life is like there just a few months removed from a war. The area is filled with amazing sights and people, and unfortunately it also is home to some very difficult and sometimes scary situations and groups. Religion, oil, water rights, ethnic groups that at times feel wronged, power struggles...all of these are factors in the daily life of the many people that call this area home.

So this blog assignment is to once again share what you have learned. You could put into words what you learned from the "walks" you took in class on Wednesday, possibly digging deeper on the subject to inject more life. Or you could discover more about the current struggles in Syria and the related refugee crisis, perhaps carrying that into what our presidential hopefuls have to say about that situation. Maybe you want to know more about why the next war in the region could be about water rights. If so, dig a little and then write about it. Regardless, try to keep things current and interesting to your readers. After all, you do want people to hear what you have to say, eh?

Grading rules are as follows:
Titled, Spelling-Error-Free POSTS must show that you have researched and found something interesting about the current situation in the Middle East (5 points) and of course...must contain 75+ words and a hyperlink and/or video and/or a comic (2 points) and end with a question (1 point). But wait...THAT ONLY ADDS UP TO 8 POINTS!!! What else do you need to do to get that elusive 10/10? Transitional phrases! See the Transition Phrases document in the "About" tab in Google Classroom? Insert a minimum of TWO TRANSITIONS to make your writing more, shall we say...enjoyable to read?
.

Spelling-Error-Free COMMENTS must be the first or second comment made to a post and 50+ words of course (5 points), and once again should clearly show that you have looked up information from the post and added it as part of your response (5 points).
