Wow have you ever heard of red ants and their eggs made into a dip for chips? Well if you have ever tried it you have probably been to India, Chattisgarh right? This food is so spicy that it can make your mouth burn! The ants are dried, crushed, salted, and seasoned then served with all sorts of chips. I personally would never want to eat it because I hate spicy foods and would never eat bugs! A dish like this seems like something that my dad would have at a party since he always eats the weirdest things. What about you guys would you ever want to try this dish at a party or just for fun?
I would be so scared to eat that. It's bugs! I looked it up, and that's not the only disgusting dish in India. there is also pig intestines and dog meat. The spice is definitely something I hate too. Seohee's post, "Thank you India for Spices" tells a lot about spice and what kinds there are. It kind of relates to your aritcle because there are a lot of spices in the Red Ant dish.
ReplyDeleteThat is so disgusting! I mean seriously, spicy red ants? That is probably one of the most disgusting foods I have ever heard of! Did you know that they dry and treat the ants with sweeteners and spices? Also, this dish is mostly found in the Chhattisgarhs district of India. If you want to know more about some of the spices they use, then you should go check out Seohee's blog post. She wrote all about different spices they use in India and some of the other foods they put it on. What is your opinion on the foods they eat in India?
ReplyDeleteWhen I first found this I was scared but if you think about it humans eat eggs (which are actually unfertilized eggs from a female chicken I think) so basically everyone eats one another and it's kind of gross but it is probably very common for the people in India. I do like spice since both my parents enjoy spice (and I think my dad would like to try this too) although I wouldn't try it. Did you know that many insects are actually good for your body? Some insects actually have a lot of nutrients! Also I think you should check out my post because I wrote about foods in India and also came to stumble across this weird dish. Well, whoever invented this dish is kinda.....weird.

ReplyDeleteI would probably not want to have this even if my friend dared me to because I don't really like insects that much. I had never known about this dish even though I'm from India. I think you should read Thank You India, for Spices. This is because it has to do with India and something unique about India. Would you eat the red ants dip if you didn't know it was made with red ants or that it was spicy?
ReplyDeleteI heard that somewhwere around Thailand, there's a country where people eat FROGS. Well, frogs are better than.... ants, right?
ReplyDeleteBut I would never eat frogs, because they're so gross! I don't actually know what they look like or how they taste after they're cooked, but I would never eat them... If you dare to know more about these gross foods, go to this cite(http://www.culinaryschools.org/cuisine/10-disgusting-delicacies/), I couldn't even finish reading this because there're so many DISGUSTING foods on that cite..
