Rhino Hunt
There was a controversy in Texas over a endangered rhino species in Namibia. On Saturday January 13th the Dallas safari club got the OK to allow hunters to shoot one black rhino. Whoever shot the rhino get a reward of $350,000 with this challenge the club had hoped to raise between $250,000 and $1 million. In 2014 the auction took place at the Dallas convention center and had to have security on all sides, because of death threats made from the animal activists over the auction. Some of the threats were things like for every rhino you kill we will kill a member of the club. Now theirs an estimate of 1,800 black rhino in namibia out of 5,055 in the world wide population. I personally do not like this auction of killing a black rhino, and others might argue well its only one rhino. That one rhino though could have helped make more black rhinos in the world, plus they are an endangered species we cant afford to loose one rhino. In some ways I agree with the animal activists but I don't agree with threats of killing people.

I agree with you. Killing animals for money is so wrong. Do you know if any auctions were held toward other animals? if so which ones? i find it cruel to kill animals and people and am so sad to hear that this is happening> in some way i understand why they are doing what they are doing but then again i really cant believe it!i hope that soon they come to a realization about the issue. Great job very well written.
ReplyDeleteThis whole thing just sounds like a mess! People are challenging others to kill an animal for money! Then, those who disagree with this so called “challenge” are threatening to kill other PEOPLE! Though I completely agree with the people who are trying to save the rhino and stop the killing, but there are many alternative reasons to handle this. They shouldn't kill anyone so stop them from kill something else. That makes no sense!
