The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence... Like in Canada, where a Syrian refugee family was pushed out of Syria as a result of the war, and was welcomed into Toronto with warm arms. (Which is a big deal, considering that it is freezing over there…) Next, the new Canadian family was the 10,000th refugee to be in Canada. In addition, the family of four, Batal Alhasan ( the father), Ali (17), Rania (14), and Nasimi, (10), are “To become apart of the Canadian society,”. But being Canadian has had it’s struggles. Rania, like the rest of her family, speaks three languages. Turkish, Kurdish, and Arabic… Not being able to speak French or English in Canada is one of their largest struggles. Not to worry though, they will start school soon. Sometimes tragedy doesn’t always end with struggle. “It’s amazingly gratifying,” says Batal. What would you have done to the Syrian refugee family? Would you have welcomed them like the rest of the Canada?
