What would you do if you came home from school and found that your parents decided to become pig farmers. In south Africa the Diack family bought a pig that was being abused, just because they felt sorry for it. Which led them to become pig farmers. After the pig they had also accidentally became a boar farmer as well. Some guy imported them from Italy, which soon that guy’s family gave them to the Diack family. Later, they had cross bred the pig with the boars, and got a hybrid pig. They continued to do this because of the meat. Diack said that the pork tastes so good because they where fed natural foods, that the pigs found themselves around the farm. These pig hybrids have a thin layer of hair and are a dark brown usually with spots. Diack also stated that his pigs look just like commercial pigs, only they are fuzzy and not pink. Do you think your parents would ever be ok with becoming pig farmers?
Personally I don't think my parents would ever even think about becoming pig farmers. We hardly even convinced my mom to get us a dog. I read the article and I thought it was cool that not only they took in the abused pig, but they chased down the abuser. The most iv'e ever done for a stray animal was throw a deer that was limping some nuts. And that doesn't even count since it ran away. Anyway, it's interesting that they dropped everything and could make a successful life out of such a sudden thing. They took a chance and had a good deed and a lot of good came out of it. Have you ever taken a chance that ended up giving you something awesome?
ReplyDeleteMy parents as pig farmers? No way. My mom isn't a fan of pets. The least they would do is buy a hamster. Being a pig farmer would take a lot of time and effort because well... you're taking care of a pig! A PIG! It's a big old animal that's always hungry. I think it's the nicest thing that the Diak family bought an abused pig. Why would they take the time to do all that? And who knew that a boar crossed with a pig gets a hybrid pig with good tasting pork? I really appreciate this family and how kind they are. I've never seen anything quite like this story! Have you?
