Fried Rice and BOOOOM

Imagine that you were at a nice restaurant and all of a sudden boom, an explosion hits and everything goes up in flames. In my opinion that would be the worst thing ever. Just sitting there and all everyone gets affected and lots die. A women suicide bomber, bombed a restaurant in Baidoa. A car bomb exploded near a pharmacy, some people told the people at CNN so they would would have some knowledge. Besides this there was another bombing that killed a lot of people as well. In other words around 80 people were killed by bombings. How would you react to these bombings?

The Black Rhinos

In Texas, the Dallas Safari Club auctioned off hunting permits that allows the holder to kill an endangered Black Rhino in Namibia. The hunter who won the competition was identified by another hunter. The permit went for $350,000 to Corey Knowlton. He wanted it for $340,000 but he got it for 350. They say the all proceeds from the auctioned permit will go to support the Conservation Trust fund for Namibia's Black Rhinos. The DSC hasn't responded to this with a comment yet. The auction took place in 2014 and have been receiving death threats since the auction. Do you think the death threats are ok?

O3O Hmm.... ooh, Mountain Gorilla! Sounds interesting!!!!

Well, That video was really interesting ( That video was hilarious!!!).  I thought gorillas only live in the zoo or forest ( I’m serious, I really thought so!!!), and I’ve never heard of gorillas that live in mountains, too!  But in the video, there were gorillas that live in mountains. I also learned that gorillas don’t like strangers near them.  I was so freaked out when the dad gorilla knocked the lady over!!  And gorillas likes to spend some time with their family, like humans!  Ooh, aren’t Mountain Gorillas interesting?

Rhinos

There are only 5,055 estimated black rhinos left in the world, and someone just bought a permit to kill one. The money that was payed for it is going to go towards saving the rhinos. In addition to the money from that, there was $100,000 raised for the rhinos. This totals in $450,000. (If you don’t want to do the math, that means that the hunting permit was $350,000)  A threatening email was sent, saying “For every rhino you kill, we will kill a club member.” This was the first hunting permit like this to be sold outside of Namibia. Four more permits like this will be sold this year, and all the profits go to the Conservation Trust Fund for Namibia’s Black Rhino. What do you think of the rhinos?

Mountain Gorillas not as many as we think.....

Mountain Gorillas originating from Kenya. They are cute but with only less than 900 left. Their species is slowing disappearing from existence. 900 may seem like a lot but there are 18,000 pandas in the wild and captivity they are also endangered. What a large difference almost twice the amount.  Imagine if humans were in the same situation  killed off by disease and war, that's the reason why this species is on the verge of extinction. Man has slowly destroyed their habitats. I believe that by 2030 the species will have died off, unless we change our ways. Poaching is the main reason why they are dying, so if it was illegalized problem solved, there are other contributions to the endangerment.

The Hippopotamus: Comically Rotund, Scourge of Africa, Walking Whale

The nightmare skull of our terrestrial cetatean overlords
Hippos. Everyone knows them, everyone loves them. “Those big, water-lovin’ pigs, right? I have their board game!” Little do they realize the true, lethal majesty of these colossal artiodactyls. Let’s start by repealing the notion that they are pigs. False. They actually share a more recent common ancestor with whales. This increases their Pure Swag Factor by 10x. They are also the third largest land animal, and the heftiest living artiodactyl at 3,300 pounds. In addition, both genders sport two-foot tusks and are highly aggressive, often killing full-grown crocodiles for looking at them wrong. Hippos also target humans, capsizing small boats and goring the humans within. Hippos can also echolocate and gallop at thirty kilometers per hour. Yowza.

Mountain gorillas?

MOUNTAIN GORILLAS? What the frack! What even are mountain gorillas your thinking. Mountain gorillas are obvi gorillas that live in the mountain, but I thought gorillas live in swamps or forests. Whenever you're in the mountain make sure to grunt if you know there are gorillas. If you don't grunt to let them know you are coming, then that's bad gorilla manners. silverback is the dominant male.the males get silver grey hairs on their back. Gorillas always chose to sit together. however the young ones can never sit still to long. During the siesta the young ones like to gather around the silverback. You may think that the silverback is very very intimidating but, he is very gentle. The gorillas eat celery and bamboo for food. In conclusion you just learned more about gorillas because of me! You are welcome

Who knew flashing lights could be so cool?

In my opinion, a boy named Richard, is a great inventor. I can't believe that he is only 13, and 11 when he made this. I am definitely not smart enough to make anything as cool as that. Especially with only ten dollars. I'm guessing that you are wondering what he made. Well, Richard made a flashing light, to keep the lions away. The lions were eating all of the livestock. Without out livestock, you can't eat any meat, also you will be very hungry. It was really amazing to learn that he was just playing around with some materials, and not knowing what he was doing. Would you try to invent something to help your community?

A Boy Preventing Lions???

There is a boy named Richard who has found a way to stop lions from killing livestock. First,  he didn't know how to use his tools but he decided to play around with it and found a way to flash lights. Those lights kept the lions away. Why might you ask? The boy noticed that when he used his flashlight, the lions decided that going for him was a risk they were not going to take. The fence around them only covers three sides, which worked for him because he wanted to make something with flashing lights  to make the lions think it is humans. He just used the tools and he figured out a way to make them flash to keep the lions away. Finally, he was put on a show Ted Talks and given a scholarship. What would you use to build a flashing wall?

"For every rhino you kill, we will kill a club member,"

For this hunter, the death threats have become regular on his Facebook page. He has security, but the fact still is he is a hunter afraid of being hunted. The story first began when an auction started, a Rhino Hunt Auction at the Dallas Safari Club. Next, Corey Knowlton, the winner of the auction, bid $350,000 for a hunter's permit to hunt an endangered black rhino. Knowlton says that the money will go to saving the endangered species. He says, "Killing one black rhino will protect the species throughout Namibia, and that this idea is supported by scientists and conservationists all around the world." I think that he shouldn't be threatened for this. He is only going to kill one old black rhino, that is considered dangerous to other younger rhinos and cannot breed anymore. Finally, I believe that though this is not an ideal way to protect endangered species it works. Do you think there was a better way to protect this endangered animal?

Will the Gorillas survive?

Ok so when I saw how close this women was getting to this family of Gorillas I was stunned. I could not believe that these were so "chill" with her getting that close. I found the gorillas were very interesting so here are some facts. So to start it of, they are the most endangered type of Gorilla in the world. Male gorillas are called silverbacks because as they mature they develop a silver strip on their back. Another fact is these gorillas habits have been limited to two protected national parks. Hopefully you learned some cool things about mountain gorillas. My question to you though is do you think mountain gorillas will become extinct in the future or continue to survive?

Let's go to Egypt

When you were younger, you would dream about the pyramids but could you imagine going to see them? In Africa the most visited place is Egypt. Egypt has over ten million tourist a year! Egypt has much more than just pyramids to see. First you can visit  Luxor's Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings here you can see the tombs of many african pharaohs. After that you can visit the peaceful town of Aswan which rests on a bend on the Nile river. Next you can visit the White Desert, an odd place with huge mounds of chalk that make it look like a winter wonderland. Finally you can visit Alexandria with lots history and plenty of restaurants. If  you have a chance to go to  Egypt where would you go?
White Desert

South African boar farmers!

What would you do if you came home from school and found that your parents decided to become pig farmers. In south Africa the Diack family bought a pig that was being abused, just because they felt sorry for it. Which led them to become pig farmers. After the pig they had also accidentally became a boar farmer as well. Some guy imported them from Italy, which soon that guy’s family gave them to the Diack family. Later, they had cross bred the pig with the boars, and got a hybrid pig. They continued to do this because of the meat. Diack said that the pork tastes so good because they where fed natural foods, that the pigs found themselves around the farm. These pig hybrids have a thin layer of hair and are a dark brown usually with spots. Diack also stated that his pigs look just like commercial pigs, only they are fuzzy and not pink. Do you think your parents would ever be ok with becoming pig farmers?

Why da black Rhinos

22 years ago in 2014 a safari group known as Dallas safari club (DSC) auctioned off a permit to kill one black rhino legally. The permit sold for $350,000 to an anonymous hunter. To me this is very messed up knowing that Black Rhinos are endangered species with only 5,050 left counted in 2014.
Knowing that innocent animals that will soon become extinct are being shot and killed all the time makes me wonder how this club could legally sell I permit to kill and endangered species. I am going to show you why we should not support this. first of all if a species goes extinct it affects the food chain if the rhino dies than many of the animals it affects can die ( you get the idea) Many environmental enthusiast have sent death threats to the club. One in particular message said "for every rhino you kill we will kill one of your members" What do you think about this topic? Is there anything we can do to stop it?

Permit Sold at Auction To Kill Endangered Black Rhino, 2014

I read about the Rhino hunt in 2014. What happened was a hunting permit sold for $350,000 at an auction in Texas for hunting Rhinos in Africa. This permit awarded the winner permission to kill one Black Rhinoceros. The people that gave it away, the Dallas Safari Club, were hoping to raise between $250,000 and $1 million dollars from it. I think this is horrible. They are selling permits to people to kill an endangered species. If I were there and saw that I would have sued the DSC. This is not right or fair for them to do this. People are trying to save the Rhino’s and they are selling permits to raise money for themselves. That is not fair. This is what I think about this. What would you do if you saw this happening and how would you try to stop it?

Suicide Bombers in Africa!!!!

On 2-28-16, two bombs killed 40 people and injured 70!! A female suicide bomber detonated her explosives at a restaurant in Baidoa, and a car bomb exploded near a pharmacy with many people in it. Al-Shabaab is the Islamist terrorist group that has been terrorizing Somalia and other nations for years. The goal of the group is to turn Somalia into a fundamentalist Islamic state, according to the Council on Foreign Relations. They haven't confirmed their ambitions to Somalia and other neighboring countries, however, as evidences by other horrific attacks like last year's massacre at Kenya's Garissa University College and a 2013 siege at Nairobi's upscale Westgate Mall. What do you think about this?

Kenya Helicopter pilot faces charges

A Kenya helicopter pilot faces charges in court after a video of hi was released pushing a police woman! They say that a crowd of excited people wanted to see the helicopter but they were getting too close to the blades of the helicopter so the pilot got mad and grabbed the policies baton and shoved her with it saying “DO YOUR JOB!” I really don't think he should have done it because that is disrespectful to the police woman. I think he should have asked her politely to ask the people to back up so they don't get hurt. This was very wrong of him and I think it is fair that he is getting charges pressed. This is what I think of this whole situation. What do you think?

Gorilla Visit

I learned a lot from this video. It is crazy how strong they are. I think they are amazing creatures and I wish there were more of them. Their lives are very interesting and I am also very fascinated by how smart they are. It seemed very surprising that they would show off so much and even knock her over! They are fascinating animals and I would like to learn more about them. I am also very impressed by how they just naturally find who is in charge. When they take breaks I like how playful the children are. They always like to wrestle and it is very funny. I challenge you to find out more about gorillas.

DANGER IN NIGER

Did you hear about the Islamists in Mali? I actually just learned about it today. I read in an article that President Barack Obama wrote a letter to Congress saying that he was going to send 100 U.S. troops to Niger to fight the Islamists in Mali. The troops will be armed, but apparently for the purpose of "intelligence sharing". Whatever that means. I think that they are going to use the weapons for protection, but they won't be actually fighting. This is not the first time that Obama has sent 100 troops and advisors to other countries. He did it once before when he sent them to Uganda to help in the hunt for a dangerous war criminal, who goes by the name of Joseph Kony. Anyway, back to Mali.  The United States has made a deal with Niger to use unarmed drones for security purposes, or as I call it, spying on people. Right now, Niger is in danger from the Islamists and the people of France and the U.S. are trying to help Niger gather information to help stop the terrorists in Mali.

Nelson Mah Man🎉

Nelson Mandela was a main who changed the world. He was well known as a peacemaker. A man who brought people together and changed and renamed South Africa. Yet Nelson wasn’t always the man we thought we was. Once, he was fugitive who behind many disguises. He was set to spend 27 years in jail with harsh conditions. Yet, the man made his way back. Once, he was released from prison he started working his way back to leadership.  Yet, there are still some things that make Mr. Mandela seem like a bad person. He very often neglected his family and left his wife alone. I can’t see how his family had the ability to forgive  him but I guess if love is love. Nelson had moved his way to the top and left too soon.

If you would like to find out more here is a article

What are Silver Pank's?... Read my article to find out!

Where the gorillas are used to be a war ground, but now it's where the gorillas are. The gorillas were in the middle of really long grass. The strongest male is the Silver Pank. They are called this because when they are “reaching for maturity” they get gray hair on their backs.  They take naps after feeding. The younger gorillas try to play during  “siesta time”. They all long playing around with there family and friends. If the children or other adults are out of place the Silver Pank puts them in there place. Sometimes there are two silver Pank's in the group like the one in the video. If you had the chance to meet a Silver Pank would you?

Where they at tho?

WHERE ARE ALL THE ETHIOPIAN WOLVES AT THOUGH? Well I can answer that for you. Only about 500 of them are left in the wild! In my opinion this is heartbreaking. The population is mostly found along the Ethiopian Highlands, the Simon Mountains, southeast of the Rift Valley, and around a few more mountains and other highland areas. The species was listed as critically endangered from 1996 was was classified as endangered in the year of 2004. What makes this the most sad is how most of the population drop is from mostly humans. The major reasons are from the loss of their habitats from commercial farming, agriculture, and human development, getting rabies and diseases, road killings, shootings, climate warming, and human persecution. More people need to help with saving the Ethiopian Wolf species. To do that, you could check out the Ethiopian Wolf Conservation Programme or for more facts click here. After reading my paragraph, what do you think should change with helping out these wolves? or shall I say wolf since there are so few left...(sad emoji)

African Witchcraft.

Ok so picture this: You’re about three years old, laughing and playing  with all of your little friends at daycare. All of sudden you're thrown out of your daycare. Just like that. Not only are you thrown out of your day care but also your family. You now have no home, family, or anything. Now remember, you're only three. Now for you this may seem insane and impossible but here in Africa it’s not.  An estimated 15,000 African kids are accused of witchcraft a year. A prime example of this is a little boy named Hope. Hope was accused by his own family for witchcraft. When medical worker Anja Ringgren Loven found him, he could barely stand and was extremely dehydrated. Hope was named Hope because people could only hope that he would survive, He had been surviving for weeks on pure scraps from random locals. When Anja Ringgren Loven found him he had worms all over and had to have several blood transfers to save him. Hope is now doing so much better and has gained much more next weight. The next step is teaching him how to talk. What is your response to witchcraft?

Superblimp Bling

When you think of a blimp you usually don't think of a cavernous white airship being able to carry 20 tons (well at least, I think of bloated balloons drifting over games for advertisement.) But Lockheed Martin and Hybrid Enterprises have planned to release just that, a superblimp. The Hybrid Blimp is quite an impressive design with a top speed of 60 knots and having the ability to land and take off without a runway. This is especially helpful because much of today's minerals are in harder to reach locations because the easy to reach resources have already been collected. Also this now blimp avoids the problem of building roads, railways, and power lines just to reach the lucrative resources, instead it can fly and land right where the mining need to be done. This could save billions and billions of dollars all over the industry and could open a bunch of new opportunities to the vast undiscovered or unreachable amount of gold, diamonds and riches still lying out in Africa.

Lockheed says its airship uses only one tenth of the fuel required by helicopters per ton and, like helicopters, can access remote areas around the world as it does not require an airstrip to land on.

Chaos in Egypt

Egypt has been plunged in chaos. There have been uprisings and, in response, mass prosecutions that seem to prosecute random people that have minimal or no connection to the protests whatsoever.  The judicial system has become increasingly strict and violent and it seems like the ruler of Egypt will be overthrown soon.
The unrest in Egypt has grown ever since 2011, when an uprising overthrew president Hosni Mubarak. The police force and judicial system have been trying to calm the unrest ever since.
Many civil rights have been violated. For example, an author was sent to jail because a judge did not like what his novel portrayed about Cairo's young people. A three year old boy was wrongly sentenced to life in jail and a policeman shoots a man after an argument.
There is no doubt that I love Egypt, but this chronic unrest is starting to taint my opinion. What do you think of Egypt's unrest?

Mountain Gorillas: an endangered species.

Mountain gorillas are a type of ape that live in the mountains and volcanic slopes of Africa. They are becoming endangered though because of humans destroying their habitats, poaching them, and civil wars. They are shy, aggressive when threatened, and are said to live in national parks across Africa. These poor guys are critically endangered, and four big national parks in Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Rwanda. In my opinion, mountain gorillas should be saved. In fact, since they are critically endangered, poachers should be severely punished if caught, and all natural wildlife habitats left should be turned into national parks so that humans cannot destroy those areas of Africa for homes and factories. What else can you learn about these gorillas? What do you think would help them survive?

Architectural thinking in Ghana

Ghana is up and rising in the world of architecture. Ghanaians use to have to go to architectural schools in Europe or the United states. They would bring back foreign techniques and materials and create foreign buildings. Now architects in Ghana have the opportunity to learn from their home country because of a new wave of talent emerging. Ghana’s two architectural colleges are hoping to impress students with the country’s rich building heritage. Ghana is a timber exporter, an architect in Ghana said "Wood is actually our material... we are in the forest belt. Wood is in abundance and we are known as a timber exporter. But the weird thing is that the knowledge to build in wood has disappeared.” People in Ghana think building a wood house is “impossible”. Building wood houses has changed the architectural thinking of Ghana.

SuperBlimp In Africa

Ok so first these people built this super big “superblimp”. And Africa need to get to this new mining ground. So when you put two and two together you get umm… and “mine blimp” wait no a “super mine” or “ground blimp” I think I went too far. What I'm saying is that the miners need to be transported to the mine so they are going to take the bimp.  Second the blimp people are trying to make air transportation the future, and how cool is that like flying everywhere absolutely mental (when I say something is mental I feel british). This airship also carries up to twenty tons, like wow thats alot. They also have a moto “No roads, No problem. Well that's it for today what do you think about “No roads No problem”?

Can 'superblimp' unlock hidden riches of Africa?

Kenya: The Growing Terrorist Threat

Porous borders, a bad economy and corruption have made Kenya a sitting target for terrorists groups. First of all, Kenya suffers more than its share. They have deployed 3,664 people, which is less than Somalia, Uganda, Ethiopia or Burundi do, even though they bear the brunt of the attacks. Next, the breakable borders. Kenya has announced plans to build a 424 mile-long wall for about 17 BILLION dollars! The next issue is weak security. The police force is one of the most corrupt in Africa, and people can BRIBE them to get over the border. What the heck?! Even worse, the Al-Shabab group can recruit people easily, because the average salary for someone in the Al-Shabab terrorist group is about $1,000, and the average income for a normal person in Kenya is only about $76 dollars annually!  With about 70% of the working class unemployed, and such high salaries from terrorists groups, Kenya may be on it's knees sooner than later.

Call 1-800-Hyena for Treatment

Did you expect that in Africa they would chain mentally ill people and leave them to die? I was unaware that this is occurring, and it shocks me to know that these people could be dying from other people because they had a mental disease, something that they don't have control over. Sometimes, a family member is chained to a tree, left to die. Also, in some places it is believed that evil spirits cause mental illnesses, and families pay a very expensive price just to have the person clawed and bitten… by a hyena, since they believe that will force the evil spirit out. Yes, people have died through that.

Dr. Hab is seeking for a solution to the problem. However, he isn’t a real psychiatrist, but he is a nurse with 3 months of specialist training at the World Health Organization. Hab is trying to encourage using scientific methods in curing mental diseases. He decided he would open up the first mental hospital of Somalia, a place with a rather severe problem of mental health. They have treated over 15,000 patients now. That means things are going well, right? Well, not exactly. Hab is facing a seemingly insurmountable problem. According to the World Health Organization, they estimate about 1 in 3 Somalis is/was affected by mental illnesses. Also, a herbal stimulant called khat also causes big barriers for Hab. The side effects can be nervousness or psychosis. Sometimes when the patients leave, they start begin to use the khat again, resulting in more problems. Hab says he sometimes sees the same patients seven to eight times. Think about how much people are there!
The World Health Organization has funded a “Chain Free Initiative”, in trying to stop the usage of chains in hospitals but Hab has admitted that he used chains on his most aggressive patients, which was a bit upsetting, considering they had been saved from chains. Hab had also concluded the only option was chaining them to their beds when some escapees had been shot from not following orders at a military checkpoint. He continues to try to solve this problem, seemingly all by himself.

Notice how these events are common in Africa. It seems like mentally ill people are almost helpless, with expensive products like medicine for treatment while many in Africa would probably have to scrape up all their money for this. What can they do? At first when I thought of this, I thought it was horrible to do this, but now, I sometimes feel bad for the families, considering the amount of money needed to treat people.

I think that mentally ill people should be treated the best way possible in hospitals. It seems like Hab is chaining patients to beds for their own safety, but I do believe we should still give them as much freedom as possible. In some cases it might be necessary in the cause to prevent something bad from happening, but generally people with mental illness are not violent. In fact, individuals with mental illnesses are victimized more than they do the same things themselves. On the positive side, the patients are definitely better off in the hospital with treatment than being clawed at a hyena or helpless and chained. It is concerning that Hab seems to be trying to solve this problem by himself. I feel like more people need to start stepping up to end this cruel treatment to the unlucky people with mental illnesses. What would you do in this situation, and if you were in a situation like one of the African families are (with a mentally ill person) what would you do to help that person?

Lions and Tigers and Bears..OH MY!

I live in Michigan. If I am lucky, I might see a bear or a moose. My first reaction would be to get small and be quiet. In Kenya, they have animals like elephants, lions, and cheetahs. If I saw a lion, I would get inside something and hide. In this article, Mr. Udoto was scared that people would jump on the lions and tackle them. Why would you ever do that!!! The lions live at Nairobi National Park. The park is “mostly” enclosed with electric fencing. Recently, at least six lions wandered out of the park into neighborhoods. Two out of the six cats are still on the loose. Wildlife experts are giving people advice on what to do if they encounter one of the lions.  I hope the cats get back safely and then everything will be fine. In my opinion, the wildlife experts should think about completely enclosing the park. What would you do if you had a lion roaming your neighborhood?

Mountain Gorillas, an Endangered Species

Mountain Gorillas are magnificent creatures that have been roaming the Earth for many year. These Gorillas have many interactions similar to humans.  One example is that friendships are made. The young male gorillas try to show off to one another by having strength competitions. Also, mostly during resting time, the young Gorillas get together in a group and play. Another example is that every gorilla has a spot, and there is a leader. The leader is a male that has silver hair grown on his back.
The absolutely extraordinary are now endangered, and humans are the main cause of this. Poaching, and recent wars are some of the acts that has caused the death of thousands of Mountain Gorillas. Today a mere 700 Mountain Gorillas are roaming the Earth, and as a species  there is an estimated ten years left until extinctions arises. As a result many different organizations have been made to prevent the disaster of extinction. What else do you think should be done to save the Gorillas?

AHHHH A CROCODILE BIT OFF MY ARM!!! (just kidding!)

Long ago, legend tells that a hunter was trapped between a pond and a hungry lion. He made a deal with a crocodile that if the crocodile would agree to help him cross the pond and escape the lion, he and his descendants would never eat crocodile meat. The crocodile agreed and safely carried him across (There are also other legends on this topic).

Paga is a very small town in Ghana on the Ghana/Burkina Faso border. Nobody really knows how the crocodiles ended up in Paga since the pond is completely landlocked. Actually, there are two ponds in Paga. The first one is called the Chief Pond and the other is called the Zenga Crocodile Pond. Also, check out this to see more crocodile photos!

Paga is recognized for the friendly nature of the crocodiles in its ponds. Tourists can use live chicken to invite the crocodiles out of the water and onto land where tourists can pet them or take pictures with them. Visitors can also sit, touch, and take photographs with these live crocodiles.

The crocodiles roam freely throughout the ponds and never harmed anyone before. It is common to find children and adults sitting on the backs of the crocodiles lifting their heavy tails. However, visitors should not be crowded too close to the pond because of one of the safety guides used at the site. It is also offensive to kill crocodiles in Paga since many people believe that the souls of the people of Paga belongs in these crocodiles.

Crocodiles are generally aggressive, but surprising not in the town of Paga. Wouldn’t it be really cool to see a generally aggressive animal being so friendly and admired? I think it would be really cool to see these animals but I probably wouldn’t get too close because on the one hand, they are still wild animals. However on the other hand, these crocodiles have been around for a long time and many people come and go so they shouldn’t hurt people. So, would you like to visit these friendly crocodiles someday? Also, why do you think these crocodiles behave this way in Paga?

I can see why we came from Apes.... Mountain Gorillas

Mountain Gorillas are amazing creatures they are almost like humans. They can reach up to 6 feet tall and 400 pounds...DANG!, and they can live up to about 50 years. Mountain Gorillas are wonderful creatures but the thing is that they are dying off, they are being hunted by humans, leopards and crocodiles.  One of the gorillas habitat is around the Virunga Volcano has great fertile soil for humans and when the humans see the gorillas there they kill them. In the video that I saw the Gorillas were shy and retiring creatures rather than ferocious. They were almost behaving like human rather than animals. There were two male gorillas showing off to the camera which is basically like what we do as humans. The Mountain Gorilla is a unique creature and will always be amazing. Would do you think of the Mountain Gorilla?.

MOUNTAIN GORILLAS, MUCH COOLER THAN YOU THINK

The Mountain Gorilla. What creature could be better to talk about. Mountain Gorillas live in California and spend most of their time partying in L.A. Ha, no, I'm just kidding. Obviously they live in forests high in the mountains! Nearly half of them live in Virunga Mountains in Central Africa. Now unfortunately, these gorillas are very endangered. In fact, there's less than 900 left! Yes, it seems like a big number, but just think, what if there were only 900 humans left? Because of humans, disease, war, and other things, there are less gorillas. The more of their territory we occupy, the less home for them. They can weigh more than 400 pounds, so if one sat on me, I'd suffocate and die. One interesting thing is that they are very soft and gentle. When you think gorillas you think they're mad beasts that charge at anyone. NO! They only hurt you if you're disturbing them. Gorillas are pretty cool, so what do you think? Are they cooler than you thought?

Also, Check out this vid!! It's pretty crazy. Immagine if that were YOU!

Boy from Kenya

When I first started watching the video I thought it would just be a report not a live speech.  Then as I got further into it I was amazed how well the boy could give speeches in front of so many people.  I was sure the lions were not going to be scared no matter what his idea was.  The second idea he had I thought was a little  silly but was still a learning lesson that helped him come up with an even better solution.  After watching the video I realized that kids can do amazing things, even in poor countries.  What did you think about this video?

The Hunt For the Endangered

So I picked the Rhino article to write about, so here it goes. This past weekend they auctioned of a hunting licence in Texas. It rewards someone to kill an endangered black rhinoceros in Namibia. The club is expecting to raise between 250,000 to 1 million dollars. The auction winner was reported a fellow hunter. I think that this is crazy because I always thought that when an animal is endangered you shouldn't kill it, you make sure it stays alive as long as it can. Although, the article has said that the hunt will help wildlife officials manage the endangered animals and bring in much needed funds for them. I don't really know if that will change my decision for being with this or against this. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not?

The Great Mandela

I believe that Nelson Mandela is truly one of the greatest people ever to live on this planet. Born in 1918, Mandela was thrown in jail at the age of 46 for trying to overthrow a government that was unjust to blacks. Once he left prison he wanted to make peace even after his hard sentence of 26 years for treason, but the court said he had life but he was let out. Once Mandela was released from prison, he worked to give everyone in South Africa a better future and human rights. Some of the human rights included stopping arranged marriage, unfair labor, and trying to give people basic freedoms every person should have. In addition to all of this Mandela was also the first black president of South Africa. Do you also think Nelson Mandela is a great person.

Mountain Gorillas and Facts

Mountain Gorillas. There are only about 350 mountain gorillas left on the earth. These creatures can grow up to 6 feet and weigh up to 425 pounds. Mountain Gorillas are vegetarians and eat 45 pounds of bamboo and insects a day. Some of the gorillas can live up to 53 years. The leader of the mountain gorillas are the silverback gorillas. The males get silver hairs on their backs and take leadership of their group. Mountain Gorillas are going extinct and we can help them survive. This is my message about mountain gorillas and how we can help them live on as the amazing creatures they are.

16 Month Year Old In Jail?

First a  16 month old little boy was sentenced to life. This was taken place in Egypt. Ahmed was accused for killing three people and sabotaging private public property during a 2014 government protest.  This little boy was so young that he could barely even walk. His father was begging for the government not to take away his son, on a local T.V show. But nether of them ended up going to jail. They found out that the was a case of mistaken identity. The real person they were looking for was in his 50tys. But tat was not the only mistake that was made. Finally the army released a stamen about this case and said Ahmed was 16 years old. This is just another example of the bad criminal justice system that Egypt has. What do you think of this case?

What happens when you fight

A couple weeks ago, South Sudan clashed. At least seven people died and 40 people           were injured in ethnic violence at a UN (United nations) base. The UN's peacekeeping mission in this country said that fighting between members of the Shilluk and Dinka ethnic groups began on Wednesday night. This fighting began using small arms, machetes, and some other weapons at a compound located in Malakal, in the northeast region of the country. Africa has had trouble with ethnic groups fighting and not getting along well with each other in the past. Therefore, it is no surprise they are fighting now. However, this time it is a little more violent. So, do you think fighting between these ethnic groups should be this violent and why?

A Life Well Lived

The African continent has the second largest population in the world, at about one billion people, and Nelson Mandela played a big part in helping them stay the strong nation they always have been. Nelson Mandela was the first African president of South Africa. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison, yet he still continued fighting even while he was in jail. I believe Nelson Mandela stood up for what he believed and never gave up. He was brave and was willing to die for what he believed in. He inspired so many people and gave them all hope for a better future where they would be seen equal to others and have the freedom they deserved. If you were in prison with a lifetime sentence, do you think you'd be able to stay as strong as he was?

Under House Arrest

Kizza Besigye, who is the runner-up in the Ugandan presidential election, was taken away from his house in Kampala, Uganda. Before they took him away, he was under house arrest . He was going to go to the electoral commision to see the data of his operation against the person who was holding particular office or position, President Yoweri Museveni. No one knows when the police are going to release. He was taken to a police station in Naggalama, which was 20 miles away from Kampala. During the police were taking him to the police station, many people were waiting there for his release. The military has been set to remain in the capital because the president has been elected his fifth term. The president has been leading Uganda since 1986. If you were the president, would you set up military in the capital to  protect you?

Welcome to Lagos

When you usually think of cities you'll think of New York or Chicago, or maybe even Detroit, and you probably don't think of Africa as the location of one of the world's most flourishing cities. Welcome to Lagos, Nigeria, Africa's first and largest city. One of the fastest growing cities in the world, Lagos is a huge financial center in Africa and has one of the busiest ports on the continent. It also has a population of about 21 million people. It even has a rapidly growing music scene.  Despite all of these positives, Lagos still has problems with traffic. They have an infamously horrendous medical system, with crashed cars not being addressed for up to 6 hours. They also have problems with sanitation and keeping everyone in the city well fed. Even though Lagos still has problems with things like sanitation and hygiene, it's still a city I wouldn't mind visiting.  If you want, you can try and find out more information about Lagos for yourself. If you find any, type your information in the comments section below this article.
